[opensuse] KDE Network Manager - WiFi Hotspot?
Has anyone successfully configured a hotspot in 15.1? If I set it up without a password, I can connect. If I use WPA2 and password, I get authentication error. I used cut 'n paste to enter the password and verified it's correct, but still can't connect. Any ideas? tnx jk -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

FWIW, last year I ran a hotspot on 15.0 on a Raspi, but without NetworkManager. (I used hostapd and dnsmasq). Technically it's certainly possible, but whether you can do it with NetworkManager, I don't know. -- Per Jessen, Zürich (7.0°C) http://www.dns24.ch/ - free dynamic DNS, made in Switzerland. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

It's one of the options and it works, if I don't use WPA2 & password. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Double-check. WPA2 can use a hex "password" or a text "passphrase". Look and see if kde is making a distinction. It's an exclusive "either, or", you have to tell it what you are using. -- David C. Where would that be? I have never used a hex password. I typically use 63 random character strings, from www.grc.com. In all the times and places I've saved WPA2 passwords, I don't ever recall having to specify which. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

tnx jk Yep. Done that ( from a KDE Plasma session on 15.1 ), with WPA2. Both on a laptop and on an RPi3. Not my own, so I cannot look at the settings. Just tested, and on my laptop ( TW ) the same works fine too.
