Hello, I am using Suse 9.0, and Kinternet. Attaching to the internet has recently failed for me. It used to work until recently, and it continues to work under Win2000 (I have dual boot). I have not changed any settings. I have a 3COM , US Robotics 56K Fax Modem (external). The settings are Device file:/dev/ttyS0 baud rate 115200 Init 1: ATZ Init 2: AT Q0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 +FCLASS=0 Tone Dialing is set. The log details are: SuSE Meta pppd (smpppd-ifcfg), Version 1.06 on mc-253. Status is: disconnected trying to connect to smpppd connect to smpppd Status is: disconnected Status is: connecting pppd[0]: Plugin passwordfd.so loaded. pppd[0]: --> WvDial: Internet dialer version 1.42 pppd[0]: --> Initializing modem. pppd[0]: --> Sending: ATZ pppd[0]: --> Sending: ATQ0 pppd[0]: --> Re-Sending: ATZ pppd[0]: --> Modem not responding. pppd[0]: Connect script failed Any ideas? Any ideas?
Run "minicom" in an xterm as root. Configure it, try "ATI" or "ATI3". I get this: | | Welcome to minicom 2.1 | | OPTIONS: History Buffer, F-key Macros, Search History Buffer, I18n | Compiled on Mar 19 2005, 20:16:08. | | Press CTRL-A Z for help on special keys | | AT S7=45 S0=0 L1 V1 X4 &c1 E1 Q0 | OK | | ati3 | U.S. Robotics 56K FAX EXT Rev. 11.6.11 | | OK If that fails, there is no connection to the modem. You could be using the wrong port, the cable could be bad... - -- Cheers, Carlos Robinson -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.0 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Made with pgp4pine 1.76 iD8DBQFDg3yftTMYHG2NR9URAngbAKCT8X64w2jEYsfCuGO5om37LnfeLwCeIgZe AtJpwqVRaLsC+9k2n7XPIKQ= =HCvL -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
