Hi fsanta I have the same Lexmarkz35 and have the same problem as you. I have downloaded the drivers for linux from lexmark and did exactly as was instructed. I have also posted here this problem a couple of times and till today have no answer on this lexmark z35 printer probleme. It seems to me we will have to dig in our pockets and get a printer that suits suse. I have looked all over and tryed everything to get this cotton picken printer to work. If no anwser pops up then we will have to keep expermenting until we do. Good look -- The most valueable Treasure you have, lay within you. I second John's opinion on camstream. I think it's the nicest Linux webcam program. *************************************** Powered by Mandrake Linux 8.1 KDE 2.2.1 Kmail 1.3.1 Bryan S. Tyson bryantyson@earthlink.net ***************************************

Logitech QuickCam driver: http://www.smcc.demon.nl/webcam/ pwc is in the kernel. You'll need to download and install pwcx as well if you want to do anything. It's got proprietary code, so it's binary only unfortunately. But it works, I've used it in SuSE 7.3 (w/2.4.18 kernel), 8.0 and 8.1 with no problems. Tip for pwcx: His instructions for installing it wouldn't work for me. So I did my own thing, which will work as long as I don't upgrade the kernel: 1- Download pwcx, unzip. Put rename the pwcx-*.o to just pwcx.o and put it in /lib/modules/2.4.19-4GB/kernel/drivers/usb *** Note that if you change to a kernel other than 2.4.19-4GB, you'll have to move this module by hand. *** 2- To get it working immediately, run : depmod -a insmod -f pwcx (run "modprobe pwc" before the insmod line above if insmod -f pwcx gives an error.) 3- Add the following 2 lines to /etc/rc.d/boot.local modprobe pwc; insmod -f pwcx; This will get pwcx to force install during your computer startup, so the cam will be ready to use immediately. During startup you'll see a warning message about a "tainted kernel" but that's standard for any binary-only module. It does install despite this warning. Same guy who does that driver also has a Camstream program for a quick-n-easy QT-based webcam program. If you've got an Apache server running, you can just have it save pics to your server files, or it can be FTP'd elsewhere. I ran that for a while, but once it's set up, the GUI just adds to memory usage for no reason. So now I use camsource, a webcam daemon that's very flexible. Just set up the .conf file, start it, and forget about it. And it's a lot more functional than Camstream, just don't have the GUI which is no big deal once you work out how the config file works. http://camsource.sourceforge.net/ Joe
