For some reason it seems to take ages for applications to start up in SuSE 9.0 Top shows CPU% user as 98% with kdeinit using 54% and X using 44% ps -ef shows 23 instances of kdeinit running with most of them being kio_file /tmp/ksocket...... I also seem to have 14 instances of mysqld running for some unknown reason. The current open konqueror is not accessing mysql and neither are any other applications that I know of. vmstat shows zero memory swapped in or out and I have 1Gig of Ram in this machine. Anybody know what might be happening? Sorry the information isn't that detailed, but I need some help in where to look further. Phil
