Yes, I agree that aspect of grub is difficult to learn and it's really stupid that sometimes the numbers *change* if you play with bios settings. But those are problems that pale in comparison with the need to reinstall lilo every time something changes, IMHO. The grief that causes when you do things in the wrong order is much worse, IME.
