[opensuse] wacom bamboo tablet on 12.1
I have a wacom bamboo cth-661 recognized and functional in 12.1/Tumbleweed, upgraded from 11.4/Tumbleweed. But, the Pulse "Wacom Tablet Setting" Widget does not see it. dmesg: [504656.049085] usb 1-5.1.4: new full speed USB device number 31 using -ehci_hcd [504656.129186] usb 1-5.1.4: New USB device found, idVendor=056a, -idProduct=00d8 [504656.129190] usb 1-5.1.4: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, -SerialNumber=0 [504656.129193] usb 1-5.1.4: Product: CTH-661 [504656.129196] usb 1-5.1.4: Manufacturer: Wacom Co.,Ltd. Hi, I have the same tablet and I don't know how to configure it. Maybe I can help you find a solution. Where is the Pulse "Wacom Tablet Setting"? I already tried to compile and install this tool: http://kde-apps.org/content/show.php/wacom+tablet?content=114856 But it did not work. That may be because I do not have wacom-driver 0.10.11 or higher installed. I can't find it in any openSUSE repo. So I am confused as how to get this tablet to work properly. We couldn't get the wacom working reliably and pressure never worked but others have: linuxwacom-discuss@lists.sourceforge.net If you need a tablet on 12.1 urgently, Amazon will do next day on Aiptek which works out of the box. Pressure too. We have the A4 12000U and 14000U. For cheapo local supermarket brands, try Genius Wizardpen. They do bamboo sized 5x4 and 8x6 models. Non wacom tablets all seem to come from one of two manufacturers. X has both of them covered. The only problem we have is that if the tablet isn't plugged in before you log in, you have to log out and back in again to activate it. Please post back here if you get a bamboo solution elsewhere. My wacom bamboo 5x8 works fine, including pressure. Inclination is not seen, afaict. Plugging/unplugging is recognized, just the adjustment app/ widget does not see the tablet. The widget is included in kdebase4-workspace-4.7.2-6.4.1 (plasma-desktop) -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA HOG # US1244711 http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://linuxcounter.net -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Thanks much, that worked perfectly. All functions that I understand appear to work and are adjustable. I have the Bamboo Fun Pen & Touch CTH-661 purchased at Sam's Club before last Christams for $129.95. All that was required w/12.1 was to plug in to usb. Plugging/unplugging are recognized and no special action necessary. -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA HOG # US1244711 http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://linuxcounter.net -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

I tried the kcm_tablet but no go. So this has helped me too. I can only conclude that I have a faulty wacom, as other tablets work OK. L x -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
