I've recently noticed these entries in my syslog when pppd is running: Aug 27 11:59:12 monkey pppd[1195]: rcvd [LCP EchoRep id=0x38 magic=0x42f3a373] Aug 27 11:59:41 monkey pppd[1195]: sent [LCP EchoReq id=0x39 magic=0xa0dcd978] Aug 27 11:59:42 monkey pppd[1195]: rcvd [LCP EchoRep id=0x39 magic=0x42f3a373] Aug 27 12:00:11 monkey pppd[1195]: sent [LCP EchoReq id=0x3a magic=0xa0dcd978] Aug 27 12:00:12 monkey pppd[1195]: rcvd [LCP EchoRep id=0x3a magic=0x42f3a373] I get several per minute. They look pretty harmless but they are filling up my log. What are they and how do I get rid of them? (Do I want to get rid of them? might be a better starting question!) Normally, I'd remove the debug option from /etc/ppp/options and send the current pppd a USR1 signal to stop it being so 'shatty' You might also check the other options as it's over-kill checking link quality every second. -- Bernd Felsche - Innovative Reckoning Perth, Western Australia -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/support/faq
