NVidia Driver no acceleration
Hello list I just put in my new mother board, biostar with an nvidia nforce chipset and the nvidia 6100 gpu onboard. I installed the nvidia driver from the nvidia web site following the instructions for using yast. It had no acceleration, glxgears showing about 77 fps and the gears were very choppy. I then download the nvidia driver installer and ran it manually from a terminal, everything ran fine, but still no acceleration. I have no clue where to start with this one. Any assistance is greatly appreciated. John -- Registered Linux User 263680, get counted at http://counter.li.org

Did you run sax2 afterwards, or edited the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file?
I have no clue where to start with this one.

What does your /etc/X11/xorg.conf look like ? You should load the module "glx" The driver should be "nvidia" and NOT "nv"

hi,
theres no need to even go to the nvidia site to
download
as root in a terminal type
init 3
then type
tiny-nvidia-installer --update
this will download the correct driver.
follow the instructions given on the screen , paying
CLOSE attention towards the end...... when it asks you
if you want to update your xorg.conf file, the default
is "no", you have to change it to "yes" to change it
so it enable acceleration. good luck.
