Follow the steps, insert the proper file addresses (defaults are wrong) and I believe it will work.
I did not discover this myself, but do not have the name available of the person who did, so I did not post it to the list (again).

Thank you very much. That did it! Things are a bit different with the new KDE 3.1. ControlCenter -> System Administration -> Help Index The rest is as you described. This is the kind of problem that can be extremely frustrating. When you are looking for help in fixing something, and find you have to fix the help tool to determine if the help tool will provide the answere you're looking for... STH
