Subject: FM801 sound card ! HELP
hi
I dont know anything about sound on linux, so far i was happy
without sound, but i do want to do something about this.
Till recently, i thought my sound card was yamaha something ,and
tried compiling alsa drivers for them. But when i discovered the command
lspci, and it gave my sound card ( or chipset... i'm confused what is what
) as "Fortemedia, Inc | Xwave QS3000A [FM801]" , i compiled the alsa
drivers for it.
compilation worked proper, as did snddevices.
But i dont know what to put in the /etc/modules.conf , so
i somehow put exactly what was there for the ymfpci and changed only the
"ymfpci" to "fm801". But right now i can play only the wave files. when i
use playmidi for instance, it gives the error as .."No playback device
found".
This is my modules.conf
alias parport_lowlevel parport_pc
alias usb-controller usb-ohci
# ALSA portion
alias char-major-116 snd
options snd snd_major=116 snd_cards_limit=1
alias char-major-14 soundcore
alias snd-card-0 snd-card-fm801
# OSS/Free portion
alias sound-slot-0 snd-card-0
alias sound-service-0-0 snd-mixer-oss
alias sound-service-0-1 snd-seq-oss
alias sound-service-0-3 snd-pcm-oss
alias sound-service-0-8 snd-seq-oss
alias sound-service-0-12 snd-pcm-oss
<p> So what's wrong ?
regards
cheedu
