[opensuse] Where are mce messages stored?
I have received a series of mce messages I and am trying to identify the faulty component that causes my system cash. This is a pre LEAP 42.3 system running on Alienware processor (Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4940MX CPU @ 3.10GHz). I hope I have included enough background. Don, I recall there being a mce.log generated, but cannot recall where it is placed. Depending on when it occurs, normal system logging may not be up yet if it happens during early boot, and dmesg may be the only place. Hopefully others can add more details. I'll check an old dead 42.3 box when I get the chance (pull the drive and look) -- David C. I believe you need to install and run the mcelog daemon if it is not already there. man mcelog to use it and access the log. google is your friend. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

*All* logs should obviously be under /var/log/.
Apart from the ones under /run/log
And indeed it is, I have an "/var/log/mcelog" file in this computer.
