This is a test regards
And why send regards?
You are apparently very new and have failed to read the 'WELCOME to
suse-linux-e@suse.com' message you/everyone receives when subscribing.
For your benefit, I quote:
Please read the following frequently asked, frequently asked questions
before posting to the list. As with any mailing list or newsgroup,
it's usually a good idea to read the list for a few days before
posting. At the very least, retreive the list FAQ now (and read it)
by mailing

Please do not send test messages to the list -- it's annoying and rude. Instead, use our test list. Send an email to test-list-subscribe@suse.com and reply to the confirmation request you will receive (just like you did to subscribe to suse-linux-e). To unsubscribe, send an email to test-list-unsubscribe@suse.com or do nothing...you'll be automatically unsubscribed within 24 hours. The list also has a small FAQ explaining the most common posting problems. There's no need to subscribe to the test list to see it, just email test-list-faq@suse.com.
You might also want to subscribe to SLE's companion list, suse-ot, if you enjoy off-topic discussions. Email suse-ot-subscribe@suse.com.
Your expected attention to this subject, and your compliance, is appreciated.
And why should anyone take any notice of such a request from you? You are still including people's email addresses in plain text in your replies, which is scraped from the archive by spammers . My incoming spam to my list address has doubled since you did this to me recently. The person you are complaining about is 'new'. You are 'old' and really ought to know better, and if you are not prepared to modify your own behaviour, to spare fellow listees some spam, perhaps you should tolerate the odd test message. As you say, your expected attention to this subject, and your compliance, is appreciated.

Just a few comments. Instead of "And why should anyone take any notice of such a request from you?", did you not mean to say "OK, sorry about the superfluous email, but I'm new and, ok, I didn't read or failed to notice the rules about sending test messages. Then, in an off-list reply to the poster you could have mentioned the problem with the embedded email address. This list is a community, and you will discover over time that there is a right way and a wrong way to address this particular community, as with any other community. Here, there is so much traffic (100 postings a day, give or take) that people who strongly support other people when they have problems get irritated by, in essence, having to go through, in essence, junk postings. Many of these people are the same people who are most likely to be able to help you through some particular problem you may be having. I don't speak for the list (of course) but have been a member long enough to have a fair feel for proper protocol. Just a few comments to be taken or left, as you please. Greg Wallace

First off, I am not new, although I have been lurking for a while. Second, I did not send the test message which initiated this, please check to confirm.
Then, in an off-list reply to the poster you could have mentioned the problem with the embedded email address.
Third, I have raised the matter of plain text email addresses with Mr Shanahan previously both on and off list. He chooses to carry on in his own sweet way. The consequences are that I get spam from him posting my address to the list, because the spammers scrape the archive. This is directly relevant to Mr Shanahan's complaint about a test message. If Mr Shanahan cannot tolerate a test message, and wants to raise a complaint, he must also accept responsibility himself for his role in exposing list members to ongoing spam.
This list is a community, and you will discover over time that there is a right way and a wrong way to address this particular community, as with any other community.
It's Mr Shanahan I am addressing. If you have a better way of addressing him, I'll judge it by your success in getting him not to put list members' email addresses in plain text in his replies.

Thank you for your concern. For me it's been 2 way traffic in the past

You're a good bloke, and I can understand if you haven't understood where I am coming from on this

Then what about the following messages taken from the archives:
http://lists.suse.com/archive/suse-linux-e/2006-Mar/1879.html http://lists.suse.com/archive/suse-linux-e/2006-Mar/0952.html http://lists.suse.com/archive/suse-linux-e/2006-Mar/1037.html These are but three of the many contained in the archives and they are not replies from Patrick. And what makes you think you are the only one one the list getting spam because you belong to the list? I recently changed the address I use solely for this list and the opensuse list because of the amount of spam going to that list. How do you know that a spammer is -not- lurking on the list for the sole purpose of getting email addresses. I'm not trying to defend Patrick, he can do that himself, I'm just tired of having to look at your unfounded rants. Equally bad.
And what makes you think you are the only one one the list getting spam because you belong to the list?
What makes you think that I think that?

I do know they scrape the archives.

I have had proof and presented it here, so what foundation do you want?
Consider yourself delegated to /dev/null.
None so deaf as those who won't hear, but as you asked my opinion on your links, I presume you will read the answer
