[SuSE Linux] scrolling in x-windows
hi, i'm yet another new linux user (well, i've had red hat for about a year or two, and hardly ever used it - i got suse mainly for the great manual to get me started) i've been playing with kde most of the morning, with fvwm and fvwm95 sprinkled in as well, but i've got a couple of problems with it (it occurs in all three): i can't see the whole desktop, and i have to scroll about an inch to find all of the edges. i know this can be useful, but when it's just about an inch, and all the toolbars are just out of sight, it can be very fraustrating, so i don't want any scrolling. i've got a feeling that this is something to do with the virtual deaktop setting (i used sax to set up the x-windows). my default res. is 1024x768, and i have a virtual desktop setting of 1024x768 as well, so i can't see where the problem is. am i doing (or not doing) something wrong that is so obvious that i can't see it? i'm sure one of you can help me - i've been subscribed to this list for the past week and you all seem to know what you're talking about, it's just great thanks in advance ;-) Chris Reeves -- To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e Check out the SuSE-FAQ at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A">http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A> and the archive at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A">http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A>

Welcome!

Try to press CTRL+ALT+<Plus on numeric keypad>. You should now use a higher resolution without the virtual desktop. It seems, you accidently configured more than one resulution, where the lower one seems to be used on startup. You can use SaX to reconfigure this. i do have different resolutions set up, but shifting through them doesn't make a difference. although both the real and virtual resolutions are the same, do you think it would help to increase or reduce the virtual res by a small amount to compensate? i can't what else could be wrong apart from the fact that every time i exit SaX, it changes my monitor from an Iiyama MT9017T to a MT9017E for no apparant reason. does this have anything to do with it?? -- To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e Check out the SuSE-FAQ at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A">http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A> and the archive at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A">http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A>
