[opensuse] Fwd: Problems with openSUSE loading process
Hey people, I´m having a funny error on openSUSE 10.3 startup on my laptop. Since the install process, when I boot, the openSUSE only load the tasks if I use the touchpad or press some key on my keyboard. For example, I can leave openSUSE starting, and when I back, 5 or 10 minutes later, the loading process continues in the same point. But, when I press any key, or use the touchpad, the process continues. The same thing happens when I work with some tasks, like terminal, or another process on KDE. For now, I´m using a wireless mouse on usb port, and the startup works without a human work. I´m thinking about a problem with some module on the kernel, but I don´t know how discover this problematic module, to compile kernel without. I tried boot with all options, like without acpi, ide=nodma, and nothing works. Someone here have the same problem? Below, my motherboard model. MotherBoard: SIS M672 Really thanks for your attention! -- /\ Gabriel Stein gabrielstein@gmail.com MSN: gabrielstein@hotmail.com Administrador de Redes - Network Administrator Linux User #223750 +55 51 9357 3886 Porto Alegre - RS - Brasil -- /\ Gabriel Stein gabrielstein@gmail.com MSN: gabrielstein@hotmail.com Administrador de Redes - Network Administrator Linux User #223750 +55 51 9357 3886 Porto Alegre - RS - Brasil -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Check to see if your bios has some powersaving turned on. Are you watching the messages scroll by when booting? Does it stop and ask for anything, or alert you to some thing that needs attention? -- ----------JSA--------- -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
Hey John, Without Powersave on BIOS, and no strange messages on boot. The cursor stops blink and when I use the touchpad the loading process continues(and the cursor continue with blinking) Maybe a problem with keyboard or touchpad? TIA. Cheers. Sounds familiar. If it happens with the system fully running, it is known. [Bug 350980] New: The system stops doing things till I press a key or move the mouse: every things halts. https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=350980 The known hack is to have another machine (a router, for instance) continously ping your machine to keep it awake. Please, _add_ _your_ _report_ to the _bugzilla_. If more people are known to have the same problem, it will get more attention. I'll have to check this in factory. - -- Cheers, Carlos E.
