I use SuSE 9.1 on a Windows-dominated network at work. Up to today, the connection with the internet was easy. It was done automatically (DHCP) and the name server was set up automatically. Suddenly, today, I lost contact with the internet and had to add DNS entries to the internet setup using YAST2. What happened to change the situation? Should I be concerned that something else is also amiss? Thanks dj tuchler

In your network card settings under YAST, on the tab for "Host name and name server", did you have the "Update name servers and search list via DHCP" check box checked? Andy Prough Austin, Texas

I had "change host name via DHCP" checked at the name server setup and the network card configuration includes Dell 82540EM Gigabit Ethernet Controller Configured with DHCP. As I said, all went well until today, when I had to enter the DNS server addresses manually to make the connection work. djtuchler
