I've got the email system on my SuSE 8.2 box working fne, with one exception - procmail. Can anyone tell me how to enable the procmail package supplied with 8.2, to work alongside fetchmail and postfix? I can't see anything in YaST to do this, so I guess it's time to fiddle with some config files? So, if I change my fetchmail invocation to fetchmail -d 600 -m /usr/bin/procmail -f /etc/fetchmail.conf that should work OK? The fetchmail man page suggests adding "-d %T" to the end of the procmail invocation, but is this needed if my procmailrc ensures that all email is directed to the relevant users? I was wondering whether there was a way of persuading YaST to do this, but I guess not. (Thanks for Patrick for his tip, BTW, but I think I'd be better replacing postfix with procmail as local MDA - no need to use more apps than I need.) I currently (thanks to James Ogley) run fetchmail from init.d at boot time. Thus, I've now set it up to start as fetchmail -d 600 -m /usr/bin/procmail -f /etc/fetchmail.conf rather than specifying daemon and mda in .fetchmailrc. Will the -m option work as I expect in daemon mode (i.e. that it is used each time fetchmail is run)? I'd rather keep my existing, working configuration rather than try another way of doing the same thing, if possible. Also, as I asked, is it necessary to pass '-d %T' to procmail if I ensure that my recipe delivers all mail to a user (by using an unconditional term at its end)? It seems to work without this in normal mode when I've been testing. Actually, Yast has you covered still. Go to System>Editor for /etc/sysconfig files>Network>Mail>Postfix>MDA (IIRC, but I know its there.) If you edit it manually, make sure you run SuSEconfig, or use Yast, and you are all done SO EASILY. -- Joe Morris New Tribes Mission Email Address: Joe_Morris@ntm.org Web Address: http://www.mydestiny.net/~joe_morris Registered Linux user 231871 God said, I AM that I AM. Aha - thanks! I think I'll try to get procmail set up directly from fetchmail if possible - no need to run more apps than absolutely necessary - but that looks like a nice easy route to getting it working if I can't work out how to eliminate fetchmail from the loop.
