Fail to compile gnomesword-0.7.8 on SuSE 8.1 - libIIOP.la not available
Hi, I am trying to compile gnome-sword on SuSE 8.1, but it fails due to a missing library: libtool: link: cannot find the library `/opt/gnome/lib/libIIOP.la' I checked the SuSE 8.1 packages and that file is not included in any package. Only libIIOP.a is included in orbit-devel-0.5.17-63.i586.rpm Has anybody been able to compile gnome-sword on SuSE 8.1? rpmfind.net provides: http://rpmfind.net//linux/RPM/PLD/dists/ra/PLD/i686/PLD/RPMS/ORBit-devel-0.5... which contains the subject file, __but__ it is an older version __and__not__ a SuSE package. -- Patrick Shanahan Registered Linux User #207535 http://wahoo.no-ip.org @ http://counter.li.org icq#173753138

Yes, it looks like the file has been dropped from the package with the introduction of GNOME2. SuSE 8.0 still had it. Does anybody know why? -- Andre Truter Software Engineer Registered Linux user #185282 ICQ #40935899 AIM: trusoftzaf http://www.trusoft.za.net <-------------------------------------------------> < The box said: Requires Windows 95 or better... > < So I installed Linux > <------------------------------------------------->

I think it's because of a mistake in the spec file for the SuSE RPM, I'll build it when I get to work on Monday, and see if I can get fixed packages on www.usr-local-bin.org by the end of the day. Thanks! That will be appreciated. :-) I originally had a lot of ximian packages installed and it seems that most of the ximian devel packages did not have .la libraries in since GNOME2. I reverted to the original SuSE or usr-local-bin packages. They seem more complete. -- Andre Truter Software Engineer Registered Linux user #185282 ICQ #40935899 AIM: trusoftzaf http://www.trusoft.za.net <-------------------------------------------------> < The box said: Requires Windows 95 or better... > < So I installed Linux > <------------------------------------------------->

OK, I've just uploaded new orbit-0.5.17 packages to www.usr-local-bin.org, and they're now propagating across the servers. Get 'em while they're hot! -- James Ogley, Webmaster, Rubber Turnip james@rubberturnip.org.uk http://www.rubberturnip.org.uk Jabber: riggwelter@myjabber.net Using Free Software since 1994, running GNU/Linux (SuSE 8.1) GNOME updates for SuSE: http://www.usr-local-bin.org
