I'm no expert on the Proliant line, but Compaq (HP) sends me tons of CDs for them. In particular they send me a set of "Quickstart CDs" fairly often. I think that they have some Linux specific files and drivers on there. Do you have those for your machine? and have you checked to see if there is anything you need to run before you try to install SuSE.

I assume you mean the SmartStart CD's .. yes I have CD's for them (version 5.1 I believe). I hadn't checked for drivers on them but will do so, thanks :-)

BTW: My wife works for Equant in Atlanta, GA. If you have intercompany mail, maybe she could send a recent set of quickstart CDs to you.
