[opensuse] U-Verse printer sharing
Has anyone got printer sharing to work using U-Verse ? I've done everything by the book (http://en.opensuse.org/Printer_Sharing_with_Linux_clients) and still nothing. How do you connect to U-verse? If via a hardwire or wifi to one of their 2wire residential gateways, you likely have to configure the IP address of your CUPS server on the LAN to pass through communications on that port, 631. Its in the firewall configuration->Firewall Settings->Allow individual applications for this computer.. ---- Address: Allen Wilkinson (cell) (216) 548-2349 1286 Yellowstone Road (work) (216) 433-2075 Cleveland Heights, OH 44121 USA (INTERNET) aw(at)chaff(dot)biz On Wed, 6 Jan 2010, Duaine Hechler wrote:

Checking with the U-Verse people.

You only need the print server to have the hole in the firewall. In your case is that a computer or the printer itself? The clients sending the print files don't need a special firewall hole. I can set up several computers to be SSH servers via the u-verse gateway. I haven't done a print server. Allen On Wed, 6 Jan 2010, Duaine Hechler wrote:

Allen, In my case, its the computer. At least by the doc, both computers have to have port 631 (CUPS) open for the client to automagically get the printer queue names. Duaine Allen Wilkinson wrote:
