Hi
I need to buy a new modem for my SuSE 6.0 system, but I need to make sure that I don't buy a winmodem. So, my question:
Internal modems come in winmodem and non-winmodem flavours, right? But what about external models: does one get external winmodems? So can I be sure that if I buy an external modem that it will work with Linux?
I hav'nt heard of a external winmodem. So any external should work with linux. Since the cpu does most of the processing work in a winmodem, I doubt that it could be done fast enough thru a serial port cable. - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e Check out the SuSE-FAQ at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/"><A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A">http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A</A>> and the archive at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html"><A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A">http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A</A>>
