[opensuse] qmail on SLES 10?
A friend wants to use qmail on SLES10, but it appears SUSE uses Postfix as default. I'm new to mail servers and SLES, so I am trying to find out if it is hard to do. They currently want to use qmail instead of Postfix. This is for a small internal mail system, though I suspect it will have some outside world contact. They might use openSUSE if they dont feel they need official support. Any suggestions on using qmail with SLES10/openSUSE ? My googling isn't turning up much, I guess everyone is using Postfix. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

But if your friend insists, ask your friend to be sure to configure qmail to reject mail for unknown users at RCPT TO to prevent backscatter. too many qmail servers accept mail for unknown users and then send back bounce messages. This is how sites get themselves blacklisted or listed on rfc-ignorant.org and other lists. Spammers use bounces to send their spam to the forged sender of the message. He must also be sure his site is not an open relay, of course. == jd "When in doubt, tell the truth." ~ -- Mark Twain - -- -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v2.0.4-svn0 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQFJPTFOhpL3F+HeDrIRAqD9AJwJz77guTVeyW9TfN8UYCbhacFYHQCePXE+ FU6jvTDABYqnaOVvV/JLVWs= =3Lsw -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
