[opensuse] Please Recommend - OpenSource KVM/XEN virtualisation / Cluster Management
Hi ! I would be glad if someone with successful experience would recommend me open source KVM/XEN virtualisation and cluster management software, which offers GUI, backup, live migration, and possibly high-availability features. Systems will run under KVM, or may be XEN full virtualisation. Right now I’m trying to install and configure Ganeti + Django-based GUI, but it appears quite difficult and time consuming, and I’m close to the point to give up, and switch to something else. I’m need to run several SuSE & Ubuntu guests, host version of Linux doesn’t matter, it could be SuSE, Debian, whatever else. Thanks in advance for any suggestion(s). The virtualization options I've used personally are: - Virtualbox (can be run headless, has options for management including the X application, phpvirtualbox, and command-line tools) - VMWare ESXi (the free version for home, the paid enterprise version at work) Currently the free version only has a Windows client and command-line tools, but no Linux or web client afaik. - Currently using Xen (paravirtualized) at home. I'm not using any GUI tools, but you could do cloudmin or something along those lines if you so desired. I also use Oracle VM at work on our ODA, it's an Oracle- ized version of Xen full virtualization; doesn't currently have a GUI. You may also check out XenServer (by Citrix, but they have a free version.) It has a lot of the features that you're asking about. I don't have experience with KVM. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- iQEzBAEBCgAdFiEE7GM/Dul8WSWn72odQ1nEo4DFCIUFAloEc3AACgkQQ1nEo4DF CIWwQwf/T6a+UV0xMnVPqefGD2djwHi0WBYamTb1oNBRApV4YShxqKg/mHJ4gTbW aukt5x0WRVHUfJXGaYqabBWDE1Y9UnQeUzU2MeSaCWyIy4u1ZYbfV7bYvr3cEgAU cpFwxSL0/74bbvgL6esmxLetIf8klPyDDD6SoNXTWc46Oe+uE2xXiHu4FVHSy+IG 4rsE40vjRYNIXZbIudnAqm8fRATov9vhUoGhAxkhpUDQcrYChWIjmmrLbXRy6ViW 9rWmx8PQf6pDToyRk/K3lqBmwgT5XdshO4ECsx+syQnsP8YyOkhKvfcrKH6WC/kG F9923+3otlCqJtERt7nECep/LH5iIw== =e3SW -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- Nry隊Z)z{.ﮞ˛m)z{.+:{Zraz'zj)hǾ ޮ^ˬz
