We ran into this problem as well. We had to made this modification in /etc/sysconfig/displaymanager DISPLAYMANAGER_XSERVER_TCP_PORT_6000_OPEN=YES It was set to 'NO' in v9.x --Ryan--

"xhost +localhost" stopped working for me after upgrading SuSE from 8.0 to 9.2 I guess this is some difference between xfree and xorg, or maybe it's the "-nolisten tcp" option in startx.
