Hello After a lot of works. I finally managed java to be usable on my laptop. But, there is still a problem I cannot solve. When I start Eclipse (the version installed by the RPM or the version I've dowloaded on the Eclipse Web Site), I can create new projects, I can open existing projects but I cannot load a java source file into the editor. As soon as I try this, Eclipse "freeze", which mean it does not react to any action. It even does not refresh it window. Waiting about 15 min does not help. The only solution I've found was to kill Eclipse. Did you experiment such a behaviour ? Thank you in advance for your helo claude
Does help if you say which version of SuSE, version of JRE, and JDK, and do you have any plug ins... I have not known eclipse hang, at least not recently...
oops sorry
JDK 1.6.0_03 (rpm version from SuSE or downloaded from Sun)
JRE 1.6.0_03 (same as above, but I had the same behaviour with 1.5.0_09)
Eclipse 3.3 (from the distib) or 3.4M2 (from eclipse web site) without any added plug ins. Both version exhibit the same behaviour
openSuSE 10.3
Thank you for your help

It is a good idea to reply to the list, not just to an individual... I am not using this particular version or combination, I am also unclear whether this is an upgrade install or a clean install... As you can do some things I think the first thing to look at are the eclipse error logs... in 3.2 they are usually in .eclipse/.metadata of the home directory of the invoking user and <workspace>/.metadata/ as .log I cannot say if this is the case for 3.3 which I understand is a major upgrade from 3.2.... I would suggest you bring this up with the eclipse forums with the relevant logs.... In past when I have had problems with eclipse when it has been a mixture of access permissions, plug-in version mismatches etc... things that newer update mechanism seems to attempt to avoid... - -- ============================================================================== I have always wished that my computer would be as easy to use as my telephone.
