I also bought a new monitor (LG L1942PK) a 19" one , with an 8x5 aspect
That's a 5:4, not an 8:5. 8:5 is 16:10, what initially replaced 4:3 & 5:4 before the marketers decided there shall only be 16:9, so that they could market HDTV screens as puter displays and thus spend less on tooling.
ratio, and even speaker(s). Also the video connector to match the MB (I had to use an adapter with the old 17" monitor, which I have retired to use with the laptop, so every body wins.
It has both analog and digital inputs, and knows how to refress at both 60 and 75Hz; I have no trouble with 60Hz.
What date was that L1942PK made? I generally avoid the LG brand, as it's the newage name for Goldstar, a brand I _always_ avoided. Several years ago, I and friends bought 3 identical refurb LG DVD recorders from Woot.com for less than $100US each, all made during various months in 2007. After their warranties expired, all failed with up to 3 bad caps. They've all worked nicely as ATSC/QAM tuners since I replaced all caps of same brand as the bad ones, but all 3 can't read and/or write DVDs reliably any more. I'm not saying you should expect premature failure from your new display, as I have no idea how many plants LG has making mainboards for displays or DVD recorders, or how many cap sources they use, but as 1280x1024 has become so rare, it wouldn't surprise me to learn your new LCD isn't nearly as new as your purchase receipt. Maybe an extended warranty would be a good investment if one is available and you didn't already get it. -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive."
