Hi, I have some ogg sound files on a usb memory stick. Amarok can "see" them but cannot play tem whilst ogg123 can play hem fine from the command line. Does anyone have any possible explanation for this? The answer does not seem to be a sound setting per se but something specific either to amarok or to those particular ogg files. TIA Francesco

Have you tried copying a few of the problem files to a place where you know amarok will play oggs from? I've noticed that amarok can be very picky about playing files from removable or remote file systems unless you configure it to use mysql instead of the built in sqlite database. Dylan

Hi Francesco Which engine have you installed/are you using with Amarok? The Amarok web site (http://amarok.kde.org/amarokwiki/index.php/FAQ & http://amarok.kde.org/amarokwiki/index.php/Audio_Engine_Comparison) appear to prefers using xine (i.e. helix and realplayer plugins). Note: I had great fun, when building Amarok, getting it to acknowledge the xine engine (now the only engine installed in my setup) ... If you've got xine separately installed try running your ogg files directly from it (there's no problems with my USB MP3 player files being accessed by xine (or, Amarok)) Cheers Brian Francesco Scaglioni wrote:
