[SLE] Re: [suse-security] SuSE Security Announcement:
Thanks so much for the new kernel... unfortunately, when I installed it (using rpm -F k_deflt.rpm - also did rpm -F lx_suse.rpm for source) it screwed my system... initrd was not updated and it seems that there is enough different about the way the kernel was built, that it fails to load the module for the SCSI adapter on one of my systems, and on the one that is IDE based... it fails to load the network adapter and the usbcore module, and it complains about failures when it mount /dev/pts. For rebuilding the initrd after installation, just call mk_initrd which will do that job. Shouldn't the RPM scripts do that? If the initrd file is not updated, one may not be able to boot. It should be mentioned in the announcement. -- Rafael -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/
