Mantel is german for "cape", as in what a magician wears. Even all the way from Nürnberg, a simple abra-cadabra and *poof* An alternative explanation would perhaps be more sensible, but you need to tell us what exactly you mean when you say "vanish" Anders

Check the ftp, I was just about to update mine due to a problem with lvm in the current build (it seems anyway) and suddenly it's not there. It was earlier when I checked. If anyone has the version prior to 2.4.20-24 then I would vastly appreciate them getting me a copy... :-) Tom

Actually it's english for "cape" too, isn't it. Oh these languages give me a headache :)

OK, they removed it for some reason. It's not an official ftp directory, so that happens every now and then. Maybe they discovered a serious bug in it?!

I think if they removed it it was for a reason, so I'm not sure you want to run it even if you should find it Anders

No, that's mantle. A mantel in English is a thing over a fireplace. In Spanish it's a tablecloth (also used in conjuring tricks). HTH Andrew

I downloaded it this morning prior to it being removed. I didn't know about these show stoppers. When I tried booting from it..I either got a kernel panic telling me that this Compaq Deskpro I have at work had an apci bug or I would have dancing (only way to discribe it) ascii charactors in multiple colours on my screen. When I tried to boot off the 8.1 CD's I got the same thing with the .19 kernel. I'm not sure how the .20 could have effected booting the rescue system off the 8.1 CD's but it did. I had to boot off 7.3 and have it boot installed system. Then I could run mk_initrd and lilo to get things back in order. I'm not gonna try that again. :/ -- Ben Rosenberg ---===---===---===--- mailto:ben@whack.org Tell me what you believe.. I'll tell you what you should see.
