[opensuse] [OT] Linux Certification
I am willing to take a professional Linux certification. My primary focus is on real-time Linux for embedded devices. Could you recommend some well known organizations delivering such certifications ? thanks Bogdan -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Linux+ grants equivalence to LPIC-1, which grants equivalence to the CLA11 from Novell/SUSE. On top of CLA11, there are the CLP11 and CLE11 certifications. Unlike the Linux+/LPI/CLA11 certifications, CLP11 and CLE11 are practical exams where you take the exam over the Internet by interacting with live systems to complete a set of tasks/objectives. The Novell/SUSE certifications focus on SLES. The LPI study guides you can find on Amazon are pretty decent. I've got this one: http://www.amazon.com/LPIC-1-Linux-Professional-Institute-Certification/dp/0470404833/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1290431307&sr=8-2 and it is reasonably up to date, general enough that the info in the guide can be used with any Linux distro, and it goes from the simple basics to the more complex topics covered by the LPI exams (I haven't taken my exams, but probably should). Basically... it you're disciplined enough, and have some experience just using Linux, you could study the books, do all the examples and write the exams without needing to cough up the substantial amount of cash asked by the companies that give classroom courses in LPI certification.
