Can someone tell me If and possibly How in Suse 9.x it is possible to write the Online-update patches to a CDR/CDRW Patch disk? If later reinstallation ore more installation of the whole OS, the patching would be faster from this 'backup Patch CD'. Is the Yast2 tool "Patch CD" applicable for this purpose? Terje J. Hanssen

http://susefaq.sourceforge.net/howto/you_local.html It looks a bit outdated though, I think 9.1 uses the path from the version number and doesn't need the i386/update/ anymore.

Sorry, I was thinking of something else. The FAQ still looks good

Thank you for the answer, I will look study this link. I think however that it would be fine if Suse would built in this possibility (selection) directly in their Online Update tool. Terje J. Hanssen
if this document is dated then how do you create a patch cd? I only take one machine to my local group which meets at the university. I need to share files either by patch cd or by crossover cable. As I have one monitor the patch CD would be the best solution. CWSIV On Sun, 30 May 2004 15:39:58 +0200 Anders Johansson <andjoh@rydsbo.net> writes:

It is valid (AFAIK) though you will need to adjust the paths -- Togan Muftuoglu | Unofficial SuSE FAQ Maintainer | Please reply to the list; http://susefaq.sf.net | Please don't put me in TO/CC. Nisi defectum, haud refiecendum

I have made an update disk with the old path i.e. /i386/update/9.1/ and this works fine. David -- David Bottrill www.bottrill.org Internet SIP Phone: 1-747-244-2699 Registered Linux user number 330730

Indeed, I corrected myself immediately. I was thinking of something completely different when I wrote that
/i386/update/9.1/ no structure above that just as is with all rpm in 9.1/. That makes it simple Now all I need do is find where YOU puts them on the harddrive so I can take them from there. I already have some updates on the other system which I can use on this one when I put 9.1 on it with external modem attached and test the mail. My lug meets on Sat Jun12 so I can install before that and then fix what needs be. CWSIV On Sun, 2004-05-30 at 13:12, David Bottrill wrote:
