[opensuse] software request
Which forum do I need to request software get updated in the community? Bitcoin has been updated to version 0.9.0 https://bitcoin.org/bin/0.9.0/ I am wondering if someone could update it for 13.1, since I am not familiar with making my own installations yet. :( -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
There is no forum, however you can do it yourself using OBS. The Collaboration document, linked below, will provide you with all the details on how to do it. Bitcoin is not distributed with 13.1, otherwise the Package_maintenance is what you'd want. http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Build_Service_Tutorial http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Build_Service_Collaboration http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Package_maintenance -- Later, Darin On Thu, Mar 20, 2014 at 12:07 PM, Andrew English <aenglish@smoothrunnings.ca> wrote:

We do not just update packages in a release because upstream moved. Unless there is a bug that cannot be fixed in the existing version. I would expect that no version bump in 13.1 happens. That's why these things are called releases ;) . A reasonably static thing that only changes when a bug needs to be fixed. https://build.opensuse.org/search?&search_text=bitcoin to find in which project the bitcoin package is developed and then send a message to the maintainers asking for a "latest and greatest build". You can search for the package here: <http://software.opensuse.org/package/bitcoin> There, you can see that there is an older version of the package on the "network" repository. You can click on the "network" link, for instance, which takes you to the page of the group that maintain it. There is no "comment" link, but there is a list of users, so could contact them. There should be a link for "reporting a bug" that should take you directly to Bugzilla with pre-filled fields as appropriate for that OBS project, where presumably you could make the request. I don't see that link just now, perhaps because I'm not logged in. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 13.1 x86_64 "Bottle" at Telcontar)
