[opensuse] Adding a .tar.gz file into SUSEStudio Appliance Without Extracted it ?
Hi, I'm currently testing to build a Zimbra Mail Server Appliance with SUSEStudio and need to add a binary .tar.gz file but would like to preserve it from being extracted. How to add an overlay .tar.gz file without extract the contents ? -- Best Regards, Masim "Vavai" Sugianto /************************************************************/ Blog (ID) : http://www.vavai.com/blog Blog (EN) : http://www.vavai.net Community : http://www.opensuse.or.id /************************************************************/ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Hi, you can workaround this by wrapping your .tar.gz in another archive. Hi, you can workaround this by wrapping your .tar.gz in another archive.
Thank you. I'm thinking about adding a "wget" script at the end of appliance built but your trick seems to be more convenient. -- Best Regards, Masim "Vavai" Sugianto /************************************************************/ Blog (ID) : http://www.vavai.com/blog Blog (EN) : http://www.vavai.net Community : http://www.opensuse.or.id /************************************************************/ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Using wget would not work anyway, because the build environment does not allow outgoing network traffic. Make a *zip-compressed* *.tar.gz file, for example: $ zip foobar.tar.gz.zip foobar.tar.gz Then, upload the foobar.tar.gz.zip file. See: http://n2.nabble.com/about-license-in-live-installer-%28solved%29-td3303864.... This is a tiny trick by using the restriction "Archives (.tar, .tar.gz, .tar.bz2, .tgz, or .zip) will be extracted into the directory specified" as an underhanded way. ;-) Best, -- _/_/ Satoru Matsumoto - openSUSE Member - Japan _/_/ _/_/ Marketing/Weekly News/openFATE Screening Team _/_/ _/_/ mail: helios_reds_at_gmx.net / irc: HeliosReds _/_/ _/_/ http://blog.geeko.jp/author/heliosreds _/_/ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Make a *zip-compressed* *.tar.gz file, for example:
$ zip foobar.tar.gz.zip foobar.tar.gz
Then, upload the foobar.tar.gz.zip file.
Thank you. It solved my problem :-) -- Best Regards, Masim "Vavai" Sugianto /************************************************************/ Blog (ID) : http://www.vavai.com/blog Blog (EN) : http://www.vavai.net Community : http://www.opensuse.or.id /************************************************************/ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
