Problems with Logitech Quickcam Pro 3000 & SuSE 7.3
Hi, I have a Logitech Quickcam Pro 3000, a USB device which uses the pwc.o module. I was previously using a SuSE7.1 box, to which I had subsequently added the cam, in that case, simply adding modprobe pwc to boot.local did the trick, the cam was accessible as /dev/video0 However, it doesn't seem to work with 7.3. Again, I have added the modprobe line to boot.local, and when it loads the module at boot, it says that it is registering the cam, but I can't access it at all. /dev/video* have the major number 81, and I've changed char-major-81 to pwc in modules.conf and run depmod -a I've tried using vgrabbj and camstream (which is produced by the author of the pwc module), vgrabbj gives the following output: (Tue 26 Feb 2002 13:41) ogley@jogley:pts/0 ~> vgrabbj Can't open "/dev/video0" as VideoDevice! Fatal Error (non-daemon), exiting... There was no map allocated to be freed... Device /dev/video0 was already closed... (Tue 26 Feb 2002 13:41) ogley@jogley:pts/0 ~> camstream is a GUI app, and when I try to add a cam to view, where previously I had a pull-down menu with the one cam I have listed, I now have an empty pull-down menu, which would seem to indicate that no Video4Linux devices are available. Also, I've had to use the /etc/hotplug/blacklist file to prevent the hotplug service from loading audio.o for the cam's microphone, as if this is loaded, I get no sound output from my onboard CS 4231 sound card. Has anyone else had these problems, and hopefully resolved them?
