For a long time I couldn't figure out if my s3virge or my monitor was the reason I got moire effect at anything over 800x600. Well, it was neither. It dawned on me that maybe the problem was caused by my voodoo card or the pass through cable. I unconnected my voodoo card and went straight from my s3 to my monitor and now I have perfect clarity at up to 1280x1024! 3dfx cards rock for quake and other games, but they can screw up your desktop apparently.
