well i would export the /export/nfs/suse-dvd directory over NFS.. that is correct..
but i don't see how anything will change this installation directory to add-in the updates so when i do a Network install on all Servers it has the latest and greatest instead of what comes on the DVD media?
You're mixing two different things here. The original thread was installing the packages that are on the DVD only, which has nothing to do with updates to what is included on the disks. Updates can be obtained from the various servers, that are listed in the update portion of Yast.
Also what do you do if the server your exporting from doesn't run Suse?? How do you update it then?? (ie a local NFS export server running another dist or solaris)?
It doesn't matter what OS shares the disk, so long as it supports NFS, SMB, HTTP or FTP. Again though you're confusing the original topic of obtaining the contents of the DVD, with updating to later versions. Those are two separate issues. However, you may be able to create your own local server for updates. I believe the "Patch CD Update" has something to do with that.
