Hey list, This is more or less out of curiousity, and for my own knowledge. I'm looking at the bunch of mail clients available over other OSs. Right now I'm mostly a Mutt user even though this is being sent from Balsa because I'm giving that a shot too. the question is, if everyone was to make say a top 5 favorite email clients, no matter what OS, what would they be? Here are the ones I love: #1. Mutt #2. Novell / Ximian Evolution #3. Kmail #4. Balsa #5. Pine I do like Sylpheed / Sylpheed claws. I didn't list any Windows clients... Mainly because I can't stand the choices, as Windows has some of the worst mail clients to ever be made... And I didn't list Apple / Mac OS clients because I don't have a Mac, and don't have Mac OS and can't use them. Although I would like to buy a Mac sometime soon even if it was only to have a box to use Mac OS X on as I'd love to mess with it. I also liked BeMail from BeOS. It was a nice little client that was easy and simple. Reading headers on this list it seems a lot of people use Kmail and the firefox / Thunderbird suit. Some even use outlook and pine and a few use Novell stuff. And of course a few Mutt users. So anyway, I'm hoping some people will reply, and let me knwo what they use and what they have used. If anyone here has a Mac PLEASE reply, I'm really hoping some people can tell me something about their clients. I've looked it over on the Apple web site and it looked neat bt I've never been able to use it sadly. I can't afford a Mac right now. Anyway, I showed what I use mainly, Mutt is the main one but I try to keep an open mind and play with other clients too, so if you have a favorite, please reply. also, if anyone knows of other OS vendors who have their own Email clients, like Windows / Microsoft has Outlook and Outlook Express, and SUSE / Novell has Evolution / Groupware and so on, and Apple / Mac OS has Mail2... I'm interessted in learning if any other OS vendors have their own clients as well. Thanks, -Allen

1. PMMAIL (previously available for OS2 and Windows).
Definitely!! (but do they have it for Linux?)
2. Thunderbird (3. Knode which I'm using now).

They (blueprintsoftware) don't have anything, in fact they've completely lost the plot. I used PMMAIL on OS/2 for a few years till I had to give it up, then on Windows until late last year when I decided to give it up to move to Thunderbird on Linux. Blueprintsoftware did AFAIK create a sourceforge project for the OS2 version, but I have no idea what the status may or may not be. By now any PMMAIL development has been idle for so long that the amount of work required to get it up to a reasonable standard is, well, a LOT. /Per Jessen, Zürich

Now that brings back so very old memories. Hadn't thought of that one in years. Mike -- Powered by SuSE 10.0 Kernel 2.6.13 KDE 3.4 Kmail 1.8 For Mondo/Mindi backup support go to http://www.mikenjane.net/~mike 7:53pm up 17 days 8:12, 5 users, load average: 2.27, 2.25, 2.19

1) Gemini (http://www.intellegit.com/) - Linux/Windows/Mac mail/news/(calender optional). Just does things right (IMO). 2) MessengerPro (precursor to Gemini, from RISC OS) 3) KMail I've also used others. Pine wasn't too bad. Lotus Notes has the distinction of being even worse than Groupwise (which I wouldn't have believed possible). Sylpheed I didn't like. Mac OSX Mail is OK but underfeatured.
