I made a clean install of SuSE 9.3 on my IBM thinkpad A20M laptop. It previously had 8.2. The battery drains unmercifully when in APM mode whenever I close the lid. It doesn't fully charge in ACPI mode. I use configure-thinkpad in APM mode and powersaved in ACPI mode. Currently the laptop is useless because it must be on AC all the thim or I have to shut it off so that the sleep mode dosn't drain the battery in a couple of hours. tia, KurtRR

Discharge/recharge cycles are hard on lithium-ion batteries, so batteries are only recharged when the charge level is below a certain level, somewhere in the range of 90-95%, I think. This is my experience on a T41 w/ SuSE 9.2. HTH, Jeffrey

Having now loaded 9.3 on an A20M and also an X30, I find that the 'suspend to disk' is working just fine on both. I did not change *any* settings using any programs or utilities with one exception: In YAST --> SYSTEM --> Power mgmt --> ACPI Settings you'll find that 'laptop's lid closing' defaults to 'start screen saver'. Seems kinda silly to me and sure would use power under those conditions. I changed that to be 'suspend to disk'. Works fine on both laptops.
