Hi! I'm testing NX client/ server here with SL9.1 I'm having trouble with konqueror under kde under nx :) It just wont start! Do you get the same problem? Just to check if this is a one-machine bug, or something else. BTW.. If o connect to the test drive (nomachine.com servers), I can start konqueror with no problems. I was having the same problem. I am running 9.1 with all update through Yast. I am also running KDE 3.3 also updated through Yast. I can't remember if it began working after a "regular" update or after KDE update. It does appear faster than VNC and can be set to tunnel everything through ssh including a drive mapping. On the other hand, Putty could be used to create the same tunnels for VNC and Samba at no cost. Then again, NX can be set up to run individual apps. decisions ... decisions ... HTH, Louis
Thanks for the reply.
What solved the problem for you was probably the
upgrade to kde 3.3, cause i'm with 3.2.1+ yast online
updates, and it doesn't work!
I'm trying not to update to 3.3.x cause i need this
system to be rock stable, and I'm not sure how stable
would an unofficial update be. Could you share your
experience on this? Does it work as 3.2.1 official
from suse?

There have been several methods of upgrading KDE discussed on the list. There also seems to have been varying degrees of success with each method. I used Yast and added the following ftp installation source (use whatever mirror): mirror.mcs.anl.gov /pub/suse/i386/supplementary/KDE/update_for_9.1/yast-source I then moved this source to the top of the list. Next, I used "install / remove software" switching from search mode to package groups and browsing to KDE. Each item in blue was marked to be updated. Yast added several more packages which I accepted. This was done on a single client. After a couple of weeks I felt confident enough to load it on the rest of the machines. It is probably important to note that this was done on my home network. Production servers here haven't made it to SuSE yet, much less 9.1. I'm currently typing this sitting in front of a Fedora client that goes through a RedHat server to get to a SuSE server so I can remote access my SuSE 9.1 home client. I get confused easily. ;-) HTH, Louis P.S. It should all be SuSE before the end of the year.
