Hello List,
How come I can telnet into my SuSE box from windows and not vice versa? Is
this the encrypted password thing? Do I need to do the registry change on the
windows box? Thanks.

On your SuSE box, there is a telnet DAEMON listening for a connection. On your Windows box you use telnet client software to connect to this. If you wish to telnet into the Windows box, you must run a telnet daemon on the Windows machine. What are you trying to achieve ? Maybe there are alternatives. -- Darren Wyn Rees merlin@netlink.co.uk ASK your ISP to ADD the NEW england.* Newsgroups http://www.england.news-admin.org/accessfaq.html -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/support/faq
Thankyou to Darren and Jerry. Doh! What a bone-head! I use VNC all the time, so you'd think I would have put two and two together. As far as what I was trying to achieve, I was just checking things out, having just set up a firewall on my wife's old machine which is now a server for our other two (SuSE6.4 &Win98SE). (Oh yes, she got the new Athlon 1G, not me) Thanks for your help guys! nip

Do you have a telnet server on your Windows Box? Windows does not come with an inbound telnet package. TRBishop wrote:
