Has anyone setup CodeWeavers Wine on 7.3 to work with Win2k? I'm having problems accessing files under Program Files on Win2k and I think it's because of the space between Program and Files. I've tried several remedies: - Program_Files - Program\\Files - progra~1 - ProgramFiles - Program/Files and others. I can get Notepad to work fine and other programs that are in a "one word" folder, but when I try to access programs like Word...no luck. I get an error that says cannot find folder C:\Program' Thanks! Tom Nielsen Neuro Logic Systems 805.389.5435 x18 www.neuro-logic.com

Thanks! Try Program\ Files/blahblah... --or-- "Program Files/blahblah..."

That worked = "Program Files/...." (The " " are the key). I'm not sure if "Program Files" would work either, but I'll give that a try. NOW for another...I keep getting a "Windows Installer is needed" error. What the #$%^ does that mean? When I try to run Word (actually I use StarOffice, but this is just for testing) or Outlook I keep getting that message. ANY THOUGHTS ANYONE? Other non-MS programs run ok. Thanks again!! The simplest way is install ultraedit in windows. Then start linux and run wine, the first time it is run, a Tk script starts to setup wine for you. After that, start an xterm and type wine c:/ultraedit/ultraedit.exe If you explore wine, you can use it without windows even being installed, but you'll have to read that. It involves a step in the tk setup where it asks if you want to use the native wine libraries. -- $|=1;while(1){print pack("h*",'75861647f302d4560275f6272797f3');sleep(1); for(1..16){for(8,32,8,7){print chr($_);}select(undef,undef,undef,.05);}}
Tried that. No go. Thanks anyway. :-) Tom -----Original Message----- From: paul harrowsmith [mailto:arrysmith@ntlworld.com] Sent: Tuesday, February 05, 2002 12:17 PM To: Tom Nielsen; Suse Subject: Re: [SLE] Wine and Win2k hi Try "Program Files" Paul H Has anyone setup CodeWeavers Wine on 7.3 to work with Win2k? Saw an article on WINE in SysAdmin magazine. The author did something like an escape sequence with backslash space on the command line. Example: mkdir -p windows/Start\ Menu/Programs The whole article's online at http://www.samag.com/documents/sam0201a/ (I have nothing to do with the mag or the author Marcel Gagne; just trying to help.) ----- Original Message ----- From: "Matt T." <matt@boons.net> To: "Suse" <suse-linux-e@suse.com> Sent: Tuesday, February 05, 2002 12:27 PM Subject: Re: [SLE] Wine and Win2k progfolder/yourprog.exe"
