[SuSE Linux] Need your support for S.u.S.E Newsgroup
I like the idea of both the newgroup and the IRC channel. If someone orgnazies either, I will be happy to join. In the meantime, on which IRC server is the SUSE chat? - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e Check out the SuSE-FAQ at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/"><A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A">http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A</A>> and the archiv at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html"><A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A">http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A</A>>

Every major distribution has their own IRC server. Debian, RH, Stampede etc. have their own dedicated IRC servers. They don't belong to any IRC networks. I think debian has a bot on EFnet, which allows you to chat with the Debian IRC server. Currently on EFnet, there is a #suse ( atleast in the evenings ) with about 4 quite people. Look for a local EFnet server in your area. Hope this helps. Subba Rao subb3@ibm.net ============================================================== Disclaimer - I question and speak for myself. Hi: If it does not overburden the SuSE people, I would like to see a SuSE newsgroup(s) too. I increasingly find DejaNews/USENET to be a good technical support source. Accordingly, a SuSE newsgroup would add to this. First, a newsgroups would bring a wider audience. Some will not like that but I would. Second, this subscribed mailing list comes to this machine. If I am elsewhere, perhaps traveling, I could still get some amount of SuSE technical support from the newsgroup. By the way, let me congratulate the SuSE fellows who provide technical support to this list. It is very good support and it is patient, friendly support. This plus the SuSE manual are the reasons I like this distribution.

Instead of a usenet newsgroup how about a suse server offering suse specific newsgroups i.e. nntp.suse.com. This would be similar to future publishing (UK Magazine publisher) who have recently had a suse cover disc and the S/N ratio on this server is very good.

This sounds like an excellent compromise. How about it SuSE? Thanks for the suggestion - I'll bring this up on our next developers meeting. But do not expect the News server to be set up before January - we still have many things to do for 6.0... But you could still send an E-Mail to feedback@suse.de about this subject. :) Bye, LenZ ------------------------------------------------------------------ Lenz Grimmer SuSE GmbH <A HREF="mailto:grimmer@suse.de">mailto:grimmer@suse.de</A> Schanzaeckerstr. 10 <A HREF="http://www.suse.de/~grimmer"><A HREF="http://www.suse.de/~grimmer</A">http://www.suse.de/~grimmer</A</A>> 90443 Nuernberg, Germany - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e Check out the SuSE-FAQ at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/"><A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A">http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A</A>> and the archiv at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html"><A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A">http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A</A>>
