Maybe I am blind, but what is the correct way to get in contact with SUSE to tell them that I want to maintain this package. I did my share of telling at http://www.opensuse.org/index.php/Package_Wishlist - is this all I need to do?

Yes, I guess it is already time to create an opensuse contrib directory and policy. Not at least because "the creme" of the scene already has waited long long time... At ftp.gwdg.de, I have collected lots of suse "users" which are maintaining "their" personally interesting packages, and at least some of them feel a "mission" to struggle for general ("social") efforts. All "my" individuals are feeding their personal apt repository components currently, and some of them already have a "suse100" component.
