error mssg. from SuSE 8.1 :~>tkdesk tkdesksh: error while loading shared libraries: libitcl3.3.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory :~> locate libitcl3.3.so /usr/lib/itcl3.3/ I have this same error on 4 machines total, never had this issue with tkdesk & SuSE prior to 8.1. Just curious, how do I explain to tkdesk that "yes, there really is a libitcl3.3.so and this is where you find it" Thanks for any and all suggestions

Tkdesk will not work with the Tcl/Tk and itcl version included in 8.1, you will need to downgrade them or install a concurrent version. I got Tkdesk working in 8.1 by compiling and installing Tk 8.04, Tkstep 8.04 and itcl 3.0.1 in /usr/local. If you are interested I still have the rpm's I made of tcl/tk and tkdesk lying around. I can send them to you. Alot of us muddled thru this question a couple of months ago. The answer is it's not going to work. The people are not supporting tkdesk anymore, and they are not keeping it up to date. It needs to be fixed to be compatible with the new libs, and nobody is doing it. If you want the gory details, it's in the email archives somewhere. You probably would be able to get it going if you use PRELOAD to load the old libraries, before running it. -- use Perl; #powerful programmable prestidigitation
