Hi all, Being unable to get easy TV-out without patching the kernel with my Matrox DH G450, I decided to try a GeForce4-MX TD8X card with Suse in order to get TV-out. After installing the new dricer from Nvidia and a lot of readings, it works great. TV-out in 1024x768 32 bits/pixel either in clone or xinerama is working. No need to have the primary screen with the same resolution ! BUT with this driver I no longer have Ctrl-Alt-Fx framebuffer consoles, I have strange and huge characters? After reading the newsgroups I came to an old version (4363) of the driver and the consoles are back. Did someone meet and solve this problem ? Did someone happen to start NvMax for DVD reading ? Note that with this card it seems that you can boot at 800x600 or 640x480 only, am I right ? Thanks. Catimimi

The G450's tvout is far superior to those on the Nvidia cards. You are right, I know this issue but it seems to be limited to 640x480 and I use kernel 2.6. Thanks.

Your TV can only display 640x480 (assuming ntsc). If you use a higher resolution the card is going to scale it down and it will look awful. Also, I have an Nvidia card with TV out and my G450 is 10 times sharper, even with a composite cable. Any particular reason you need 2.6? SUSE backported a lot of the cool stuff into their 2.4 kernel... - -- James Oakley Engineering - SolutionInc Ltd. joakley@solutioninc.com http://www.solutioninc.com ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ This e-mail is CONFIDENTIAL and contains information intended only for the person(s) named.
