OK, so I've been doing some digging to try and get RC working with the apt repositories. Of currently available services, all I can find is a very out of date service on open-carpet.org that points to ftp.gwdg.de (you can't point directly at ftp.gwdg.de with RC). So, does anyone know of a more current and up-to-date RC service that points at ftp.gwdg.de (or it's mirrors)? Or am I on my own here and have to invent my own? C.

Yah, I've done that (that's the one I was referring to in my original posting), and it's loaded some - about 25% of the currently available gwdg repositories... I assume that the XML file at Open Carpet hasn't been updated in a while, and it doesn't have the full current list of available repositories. I could make a new XML file and email it to the maintainers of that site... and then hope they update it :-) Or... find another service list somewhere... or make my own and host it on my own website. I'm hoping for the second option... that someone else maintains a current service. Then again, I could make one myself, host it and share with the group here... if no one lese has already done it. C.

The best option would be to extend the aptate script to have it create the RC info file. Aptate is the script being used at gwdg to create the apt repository. If the RC functionality is part of the script, you will have up to date RC repository for a long time... aptate is part of the apt4rpm package, check it out and see if it is possible to the funtionality... (of course it is possible, but it needs some perl coding. I'm looking forward to this extentsion!). -- RIchard

Red-Carpet has been a hit & miss affair since 9.2 was released. I think it is a great service but as you say it is not being maintained properly for the SuSE distro's. It would be great if you could get the maintainers to update the service or host it elsewhere. -- Regards, Graham Smith ---------------------------------------------------------
