SV: [SLE] JetDirect
I would be very happy if you just could share the secret of how you configured the JetDirect as lp? /Lennart -----Ursprungligt meddelande----- Från: James Ogley [mailto:james.ogley@pinnacle.co.uk] Skickat: den 18 maj 2001 10:42 Till: suse-linux-e@suse.com Ämne: [SLE] JetDirect Hi, I'm running SuSE 7.1 with lprold-3.0.48-168 and in my office resides a HP LaserJet 4000 using JetDirect, which I have configured as lp. The problem is that the printer has two paper trays, one of which contains blank paper, the other contains my company's headed, watermarked, embossed, costs a fortune paper. Can you guess which gets used whenever I print? That's right, the headed paper! Is there a way of specifying which paper tray to use? (Eg could I do this with CUPS?) I guess my ideal solution would be to have two printers configured, lp and lp2 where one printed to one tray and the other to the other... Any thoughts? It'll be another step towards liberating my company's desktops (At the mo, only me and my boss run Linux - both SuSE 7.1 and we both have the same problem) James -- James Ogley, Unix System Administrator, Pinnacle.Net james.ogley@pinnacle.co.uk +44 20 8731 3619 Listening to the sound of the coming rain... *********************************************************************** CONFIDENTIALITY. I would tell you, but then I'd have to shoot you ;-) Seriously, the printer was already set up when I started my job here, I just used the Configure Remote Printers pane in YaST1, using the printer's IP for the server name and the name of it as the queue on the server... -- James Ogley, Unix System Administrator, Pinnacle.Net james.ogley@pinnacle.co.uk +44 20 8731 3619 Listening to the sound of the coming rain... *********************************************************************** CONFIDENTIALITY. there are two queues: raw and text. text will do some <CR><LF> conversions, raw is the one you want. Printing might be a bit difficult under some circumstances. But let us know if you run into further trouble.
