Konqueror: can't log into PayPal
I've been trying to log into PayPal via Konqueror and it doesn't work. After I enter my login information, I get a pause screen and then get bounced back again to the login screen. I have cookies enabled. I'm running KDE 2.1.1 and SuSE 7.1. Has anyone else succeeded in logging into PayPal via Konqueror? Paul

Is ssl enabled? Just asking.
Yes, it is (under "crypto", Konqueror settings). Paul

I know that Konq in 2.1.1 can't log into my bank website .. it idents itself as Konqueror 5 and won't let itself be told anything else..so needless to say it doesn't work. :/ Mozilla does..oddly enough. Let me take look and I will let ya know. Regards, -- Ben Rosenberg mailto:ben@whack.org ----- If two men agree on everything, you can be sure that only one of them is doing the thinking.

Hey, you can try going into KControl->Web Browser->User Agent, and changing the user agent for that site to whatever Mozilla uses... Good luck, and please let me know if this works... Thanks, Steven

I would set Konq's defaults and try it..then customize a bit at a time. hmmm... -- Ben Rosenberg mailto:ben@whack.org ----- If two men agree on everything, you can be sure that only one of them is doing the thinking.
Konqui wont log into my Tarrantella web top (www.firstasp.co.uk), has similar problems as described with logging into PayPal Matt

If it's not IE or Netscape 4.X.X then it's coded to automatically reject everything else no matter if it supports things such as ssl or not. It's a server side problem..not a browser. Some people have had luck changing the user agent in the control panel to match IE or Netscape for the site they are trying to access. Give this a shot. -- Ben Rosenberg mailto:ben@whack.org ----- If two men agree on everything, you can be sure that only one of them is doing the thinking.

btw, what is the exact MSIE user agent string that should be entered? Thanks, Steven
I don't honestly know what works as far as this is concerned anymore. I haven't been able to get the "User Agent" to work correctly since 2.0.1..for my banking needs I use Mozilla. * Steven Hatfield (ashari@knightswood.net) [010511 08:04]: ->On Friday 11 May 2001 11:01 am, Ben Rosenberg wrote: ->> * Matthew Stringer (qube@firstnet.co.uk) [010511 01:11]: ->> ->Konqui wont log into my Tarrantella web top (www.firstasp.co.uk), has ->> ->similar problems as described with logging into PayPal ->> ->> I had no issues logging into Paypal with Konq.. the problem in 99% of ->> most cases is that the servers to a browser query and ask what browser ->> your using. Before fussing with the user agent I'd suggest making sure that under Konqueror's Cookies setting, the cookies for the specific site haven't been disabled. In my case they had become disabled for PenPal even though I don't remember ever doing that intentionally. Paul
I've determined why I was unable to log into PayPal under Konqueror. Although I had cookies enabled in general, the site-specific list on that configuration page indicated that cookies from PayPal should be rejected (I don't know how that came about). Once I changed that "reject" to "accept", I was able to log in without difficulty. Paul
