eth0 is the world interface (cablemodem) eth1 is the lan interface "firewall" and it is mixed with 10 and 100 base t clients, and is quite loaded. eth2 is the second lan interface protected from the world via firewall rules. It is used for Samba shares, as well as a few xterms. Because of the x-terms (diskless) and the fact that my Samba shares actually run executables stored on the share, I thought it best to dedicate bandwith at 100base t to these clients And, network cards are less than the price of a 12 pack in Cali.
