[opensuse] reset kde
Hello, Trying a new digikam from obs, I killed my leap 42.1 kde... I do not anymore start with init 5 When booting I get the console prompt. With yast I could install xfce and startxfce works. kdm works also and I can choose from the kdm tool menu to start xfce, icewm... but kde don't start how can I have kde again? I don't see anything in the logs, most uninstall or reinstall in yast guves my very long dependency hell... thanks jdd -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

yes, btrfs, but there is room
and it come just after I installed digikam 5 from obs (now removed)
thanks jdd
I asked about btrfs because of it's rollback features. If I understood correctly the previous snapshot should have a working situation. And, if the "digikam" repo has been removed, have others been added and removed? This, and the loads of repos make it very hard, for me at least, to say something decent about it. -- Gertjan Lettink, a.k.a. no, it asks for too much space and is desabled

I only wanted to reinstall kde, nothing more. I could install xfce or gnome (since the problem), why not kde? I guess I will simply reinstall a fresh leap. anyway it's necessary to do so from time to time, I test too many programs, it happen always to break something at a moment :-( thanks jdd -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

thanks jdd I know, I know. If removing the plasma* stuff from ~/.config doesn't help, it's mostly a matter of mixing KDE packages from various repos. Can be fixed with zypper --from # -- from # ( where # represent repo numeric ), but in your case that might

Yes. I think that is common to several filesystem. Shrinking may imply moving used blocks out the end of the filesystem, the region that is about to disappear. Ie, a functionality similar to to defrag tools. Ntfs is precissely one of the filesystems that can be shrinked. - -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. - Yamaban and it's shrinking that I needed... Whatever I have some good news.
Summary. Easy because I had again the problem on the fresh install. I don't know all of the process, but most of it is: * install leap fresh *add packman * do a zypper dup --from "Packman Repository" * install Thunderbird all this ok. at some moment, try to play kpat. Notice there is no "paris" deck. Look for the extra decks, install them. Paris appear in kpat, but can't be configured (apply keep greyed out). Try install some more, probably from obs. * In the end "kpat5" was available in yast. Installing it killed kde... seems to remove plenty of things like kdm... * at start, only init 3 available * have to do "zypper in kdm" to get it back * typing "kdm" as root make it start and gives the usual menu. Kde don't start * but icewm works, so use it * in Yast notice some qt5 repositories (complete list available at the end of the mail) * deactivate the presumably offending repos (the ones with "non" - that is no) * zypper dup * zypper in plasma* seems to work now... jdd # | Alias | Nom | activé | Contrôle GPG | Rafraîchir ---+-------------------------------------+----------------------------------------+--------+--------------+----------- 1 | download.opensuse.org-non-oss | Dépôt principal (NON-OSS) | Oui | (r ) Oui | Oui 2 | download.opensuse.org-non-oss_1 | Dépôt de mises à jour (Non-OSS) | Oui | (r ) Oui | Oui 3 | download.opensuse.org-oss | Dépôt principal (OSS) | Oui | (r ) Oui | Oui 4 | ftp.gwdg.de-suse | Packman Repository | Oui | (r ) Oui | Oui 5 | http-download.opensuse.org-2b0a6245 | KDE:Qt5 | Non | ---- | Non 6 | http-download.opensuse.org-2f925576 | isv:ownCloud:desktop | Oui | (r ) Oui | Oui 7 | http-download.opensuse.org-4096ab03 | home:aginies | Non | ---- | Non 8 | http-download.opensuse.org-5a1ca9f3 | home:wolfi323:branches:KDE:Frameworks5 | Non | ---- | Non 9 | http-download.opensuse.org-d6526bd9 | KDE:Frameworks5 | Non | ---- | Non 10 | linuxdownload.adobe.com-linux | Adobe Flash Plugin | Oui | ( p) Oui | Oui 11 | opensuse-guide.org-repo | Libdvdcss Repository | Oui | (r ) Oui | Oui 12 | repo-update | openSUSE-Leap-42.1-Update | Oui | (r ) Oui | Oui -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
not to have too many subjects in the same mail It lacks a feature in yast, may be it can be done in zypper, but I don't know how. Maybe, but far better than the inexplicable panoply of invocation names in the apt and urpm systems or "optional" plugins in the yum and dnf systems.
