K3b doesn't see my DVD drive for input
Running SuSE 8.1, k3b 0.7 under KDE 3.0.5, I was going to copy a data CD. When I select "Copy CD", I see my CD writer both in the input and output dropdowns. The CD writer is the only option in the drop down - the DVD drive on my system (which is working perfectly in other apps) isn't even available. In the Tree View on the left side of the screen, both drives are shown, but if I select the DVD drive, k3b reports "Sorry, K3b was not able to retrieve disk information." Doesn anyone know how to get K3b to see my DVD drive? tia -- Penguins eat butterflies, don't they?

Do you have libdvdcss installed? You need that to read most commercial DVDs. To get your dvd shown in the copy CD dialog, you need to enable ide-scsi emulation. You can read about it in the unofficial suse faq at http://susefaq.sf.net
